SBE UPM-XMUPT Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI)
The Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI) has established three core objectives:
1.To foster interdisciplinary research that bridges the gap between economic analysis and data-driven business intelligence.
2. To promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between researchers, faculty, and students from School of Business and Economics UPM (SBE UPM) and Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University (XMUPT) in the fields of economics and business analytics.
3.To contribute to the development of talent with expertise in applied economics and business analytics innovation.
The Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI) has developed a comprehensive action plan to promote research collaboration. In terms of organizational structure, both institutions will each select no fewer than five core researchers to form a joint team, ensuring the professionalism and synergy of the research efforts. To ensure the smooth progress of joint research, the laboratory has established a funding mechanism, setting up a fund to support joint research projects. Additionally, the laboratory has established a robust mechanism for sharing research outcomes, participating in international conferences such as the GCBER Global Business and Economics Research Conference and hosting online seminars to share research findings.
The Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI) has advantages in academic research and practical application,covering a number of important disciplines such as economics and econometrics, business management, accounting and finance. The laboratory has gathered 98 senior researchers from diverse professional backgrounds, including experts in economics and econometrics, business and management scholars, accounting professors, and financial researchers. In terms of research output, researchers have made significant achievements, including publishing papers in academic journals, publishing professional works and book chapters, preparing annual reports, and achieving innovation. The joint laboratory project is also supported by the School of Business and Economics Research Grant (GPSPE). In addition, the Joint Laboratory hosts two professional journals with academic impact, IJEM and AJCR, which provide an important platform for academic exchange in related fields.
The IJEM journal focuses on core issues in the fields of economics and management. It covers a wide range of topics, including national macroeconomic issues, international economic issues, interactions between national and regional economies, microeconomics, and macroeconomic policies. The journal is indexed in several prestigious international databases, including Scopus, Malaysia Citation Index (MYCITE), Islamic World Scientific Citation Center, EBSCO, and ASEAN Citation Index (ACI). The IJEM publishes three issues annually, providing a platform for global scholars to exchange research findings.
AJCR journal provides a high-quality publication channel for scholars who use case teaching method to carry out research. As an important academic position of case study in Asia, the journal continuously promotes the innovation and development of case teaching theory and practice with two issues published every year.
The Faculty of Business and Economics at Universiti Putra Malaysia (SBE UPM) will host the 2025 Global Conference on Business and Economics Research (GCBER 2025) from September 27 to 28,2025. The School of Business and Economics (SBE) invites representatives from various institutions to present papers and participate in doctoral seminars at this international conference. The theme of the conference is "Empowering ASEAN'S Prosperity: A Global Partnership for Business Innovation and Sustainable Growth" focusing on promoting ASEAN'S economic and social well-being through collaboration with global partners. The theme suggests exploring how international cooperation can foster innovation and sustainability within ASEAN, ultimately leading to shared and lasting prosperity. The conference aims to introduce and discuss contemporary business trends, concerns, and challenges, as well as innovations. Additionally, GCBER 2025 brings together scholars and practitioners from the fields of accounting, finance, business, economics, management, and other social sciences. The Global Conference on Business and Economics Research (GCBER 2025) can serve as a platform for scientific research exchange and transformation for Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI).
