Delegation From Universiti Putra Malaysia Visits Fujian Province as China-Malaysia Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Deepens

From July 1 to 3, a delegation of nine people from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), including Vice Chancellor Professor Ismi Arif Ismail and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics Professor Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin, visited Fujian Province. They held a three-day China-Malaysia industry-academia-research exchange and visit activity in the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone. This was the second visit by UPM experts and scholars to Fujian this year, following the visit by a UPM doctoral research team in May.

During the event, experts and scholars from the Ministry of Natural Resources' Island Research Center, Xiamen University's Pingtan Research Institute, and Universiti Putra Malaysia held a seminar on Belt and Road China (Pingtan) and Malaysia Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration, as well as a seminar on the establishment of a joint laboratory for digital economy and business intelligence research. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as pathways for technology transfer in the digital economy era and international talent cultivation, with a focus on the Belt and Road Initiative. Ismi Arif Ismail expressed his hope that China and Malaysia would leverage this collaborative opportunity to seamlessly integrate Malaysia's academic strengths with China's development opportunities.

Experts and scholars from Universiti Putra Malaysia also visited the Island Research Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the teaching and research facilities and industry-academia-research achievement base of Xiamen University Pingtan Research Institute, inspected the UPM CSSC facilities, Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park, Comprehensive Experimental Zone Planning Hall, Emerging Industry Park, Cross-Strait Integration Intelligent Computing Center, and enjoyed a tour of the Changjiang Ao Scenic Area.

During the visit and exchange at the industry-academia-research base, the experts gained a detailed understanding of the research achievements in fields such as artificial intelligence and big data, and discussed how to further convert the research results into academic applications.

 During their visit to the Comprehensive Experimental Zone Planning Exhibition Hall, the experts gained a comprehensive understanding of Pingtan's strategic layout of “one island, two windows, and three zones” and its broad development prospects.

During their visit to the emerging industrial park, the experts learned about next-generation information technology and the big health industry, and gained a deep understanding of the construction of a modern industrial cluster with complete functions and a friendly environment, as well as cross-strait economic cooperation and scientific and technological achievements.

During the tour of the Cross-Strait Integration Intelligent Computing Center, the Universiti Putra Malaysia delegation experienced the center's cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements. Through the AI artificial intelligence system, experts and scholars immersed themselves in the fully intelligent product service system and the actual operation of the computing power center's DBO one-stop service platform. The delegation spoke highly of the level of development of China's artificial intelligence technology.
